About me
Hello!
I’m Janine, an independent illustrator living and working in Leuven, Belgium.
With a passion for art running in the family, I started drawing at an early age, experimenting with various traditional media and photography over the years, eventually finding my way to black ink and graphite.
Being multilingual with a keen interest in languages, I got my Master’s degree in Linguistics and Literature, before mainly working in the field of communication, events and marketing. A few years back however, I decided to pursue my passions and I went back to school, graduating as a Graphic Designer, mainly focussing on digital illustration in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
My drawings are characterized by a magical-realistic style with intricate details and whimsical compositions, by organic, natural shapes and textures. I draw inspiration from both folklore and pop-culture, from starry skies, northern lights, misty mountains and gloomy forests.
